Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups (600g) granulated sugar
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 package (12 oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: chopped nuts or marshmallows for added texture
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the sugar, evaporated milk, and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture comes to a rolling boil.
- Maintain a vigorous boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Remove from heat and immediately stir in the chocolate chips and vanilla extract until completely melted and smooth.
- Pour the fudge mixture into a greased 9×13-inch pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Let it cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours or until set. For faster cooling, consider using a quick-chill method with a suitable device.
- Cut into squares and enjoy your homemade Christmas fudge.
Notes
- For an extra festive touch, add chopped nuts or marshmallows into the fudge before it sets.
- Store in an airtight container layered with parchment paper, at room temperature for up to 1 week or refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
- If freezing, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe container for longer shelf life.
