Ingredients
Scale
- 400g of your favorite pasta (penne, spaghetti, or fusilli)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 red chili peppers, chopped (adjust to your heat preference)
- 1 cup crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped onion, sautéing until fragrant and translucent.
- Add chopped red chili peppers, red pepper flakes, and smoked paprika to the skillet. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly to release their spicy flavors.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce. Season with salt and black pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Combine the cooked pasta with the spicy sauce. Toss well to coat all the pasta thoroughly.
- Garnish with freshly chopped basil or parsley, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan if desired.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of red chili peppers to control the heat level.
- For extra spice, add a splash of hot sauce or a pinch of cayenne pepper.
- This dish pairs well with crusty bread or garlic knots.
- You can substitute whole wheat or gluten-free pasta for healthier options.
