Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Red food coloring or ketchup (for the “blood” effect)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a loaf pan or shape the meat mixture into a bat shape on a baking sheet.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Parmesan, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well until thoroughly blended.
- Set aside a small portion of the mixture for the “bat ears” if desired.
- Add red food coloring or ketchup to the mixture if you want a “bloody” appearance inside the meatloaf. Mix thoroughly.
- Shape the mixture into a bat silhouette with wings spread out and body centered. Add small “ears” on top if desired for extra spooky effect.
- Mix ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, and dark food coloring in a bowl to create the ‘Bat Signal’ glaze.
- Spread the glaze evenly over the shaped meatloaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
Notes
- You can add extra black or purple food coloring to the glaze or meat mixture for a more dramatic Bat Signal effect.
- For best results, use a meat thermometer to ensure proper doneness.
- Shape the meatloaf on a baking sheet for a more creative bat silhouette, or use a loaf pan for easier shaping.
