Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 large Egg
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon dried catnip (for feline cookies and pet treats)
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking powder
- Optional: edible glitter or colored icing for decorating
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder. Gradually add to the wet mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Fold in the dried catnip for that feline aroma that both humans and cats will love.
- Divide the dough into two halves, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a cat-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies.
- Arrange the shaped cookies on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
- Allow cooling completely before decorating or serving.
Notes
- Store these cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- For longer storage, freeze in a sealed container for up to three months.
- Use parchment paper between layers to prevent sticking and maintain freshness.
