Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of refrigerated pizza dough or homemade bread dough
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Food coloring (green, black, or purple food gel—optional for added spooky effect)
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (for texture)
- Plastic or edible eyes (optional for extra creepiness)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a rectangular shape about ¼ inch thick.
- Cut the dough into long strips, approximately ½ inch wide, to resemble sandworms.
- Twist or curl the strips lightly to give a worm-like appearance and transfer onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the breadsticks gently with olive oil mixed with garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- If desired, tint small portions of dough with food coloring and dot onto the breadsticks for a creepy, colorful effect.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds over the top for added crunch and texture.
- Attach edible eyes or small plastic eyes at one end for a menacing look.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove and let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days for best crunch.
- Reheat briefly in an air fryer for extra crispness.
- For vegan options, use plant-based dough and toppings.
