Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large russet potatoes
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: sour cream, shredded cheese, chopped chives, bacon bits, butter
- Additional flavoring: garlic powder, paprika, thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Rinse the potatoes thoroughly under cold water and pat dry.
- Using a fork, poke each potato about 6-8 times to allow steam to escape.
- Rub each potato with olive oil, then sprinkle generously with salt and optional spices like garlic powder or paprika.
- Place the potatoes directly on the oven rack or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and a fork slides in easily.
- Once baked, carefully remove the potatoes and let them cool slightly. Slice open, fluff the interior with a fork, and add your favorite toppings like sour cream, shredded cheese, chopped chives, or bacon bits for that authentic baked potato experience.
Notes
- For extra crispy skin, consider broiling the potatoes for the last 2-3 minutes.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator, wrapped in foil or plastic wrap, for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in the microwave for 2-3 minutes or in the oven at 350°F until heated through.
