Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of granulated sugar
- 1 cup of water
- 1 cup of light corn syrup
- 1–2 drops of blue food coloring
- 1/2 teaspoon of flavored extract (e.g., vanilla or lemon)
- Parchment paper
- Glass jars or containers for storage
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, water, and light corn syrup. Stir gently over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and bring to a boil without stirring further.
- Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Once the mixture reaches the desired temperature, remove from heat and add blue food coloring and flavored extract. Stir gently until evenly combined.
- Carefully pour the hot candy mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spreading to about 1/4 inch thick. Cool completely for 1-2 hours until hard.
- Once cooled, break the candy into pieces using a hammer or the back of a heavy spoon. Store in glass jars or airtight containers.
Notes
- Store in a cool, dry place away from humidity to maintain crispiness.
- Use parchment paper between layers when stacking to prevent sticking.
- This candy can also be used as a fun topping for desserts like ice cream or cupcakes.
