Ingredients
Scale
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Optional: hot sauce for extra flavor
Instructions
- Rinse and pat dry the chicken pieces.
- Marinate in buttermilk for at least 2 hours; for extra tenderness, marinate overnight.
- Mix the flour with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat thoroughly in the seasoned flour.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or a Ninja Mega Kitchen Power System for optimal frying.
- Carefully lower chicken pieces into hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 12-15 minutes per side, depending on size.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot for that fresh, crispy texture.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is at around 350°F (175°C) before frying for maximum crispiness.
- Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent soggy chicken.
- Reheat leftovers in the oven or air fryer to restore crispy texture—avoid microwave reheating.
