- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce
- 4 sub rolls
- 8 slices mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into 12-16 meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook meatballs, turning occasionally, until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
- Pour marinara sauce over meatballs and bring to a simmer. Cover and let simmer on low for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice sub rolls lengthwise, fill with meatballs and marinara, top with mozzarella cheese, and bake for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted.
