Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring: blue, white, black, and red
- Royal icing or icing gel for decorating
- Edible markers (optional for fine details)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a stand mixer or large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two halves, wrap each in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness.
- Use a S.H.I.E.L.D. shield or round cookie cutter to cut out the cookies.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Let cool completely.
- Prepare royal icing or use color gels to outline the shield design. Color a portion of icing blue for the background, white for the star, and red for accents.
- Use piping tips or edible markers to draw the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo accurately. Allow the decorated cookies to dry for several hours or overnight.
Notes
- Ensure cookie dough is evenly rolled out for consistent baking.
- Use high-quality food coloring for vibrant, long-lasting colors.
- Allow decorated cookies sufficient time to dry for best results.
- Decorate with edible markers for fine details or piping gels for bold outlines.
