Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound (450g) tortilla chips or homemade nacho chips
- 1 cup spicy taco-seasoned ground beef or plant-based alternative
- 1/2 cup jalapeño peppers, sliced
- 1/2 cup red onion, diced
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or spicy pepper jack cheese
- 1/2 cup sour cream (optional for cooling contrast)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
- Hot sauce or fiery salsa to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the tortilla chips evenly on a large baking sheet.
- Cook the spicy taco beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- Layer the cooked ground beef evenly over the chips.
- Sprinkle sliced jalapeños, red onions, and shredded cheese generously over the layered chips.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped cilantro and drizzled with hot sauce or spicy salsa for extra heat.
- Optional: Serve with a side of sour cream to balance the spice.
Notes
- Adjust the spice level by adding more or fewer jalapeños or hot sauce.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute ground beef with black beans or lentils.
- Best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
