- 1/2 cup water (ice-cold)
- 1 cup ground beef or chicken
- 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or cheddar)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Oil for frying
- Optional: dipping sauce of your choice
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: Combine flour and salt in a bowl. Add butter and mix until crumbly. Gradually add cold water, kneading gently. Wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Cook the Filling: Brown meat in a skillet, add spices, and mix in cheese until melted. Cool the mixture.
- Assemble the Empanadas: Roll dough to 1/8 inch thick, cut circles, add filling, fold, and seal edges with a fork.
- Fry to Perfection: Heat oil in a skillet, fry empanadas until golden brown, then drain on paper towels. Serve with dipping sauce.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
- Reheating can be done in the oven or air fryer for best texture.
