Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
- ½ cup of unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- ¼ cup of powdered sugar
- 1 large egg, separated
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Food coloring in blue, pink, yellow, and purple
- Fresh fruit for decoration (blueberries, strawberries, kiwi)
- Decorative edible anime motifs and characters (optional)
- Custard or vanilla pudding for filling
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and powdered sugar.
- Cut in the butter: Add the cold cubed butter to the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or fingers, blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Add the egg yolk and vanilla: Incorporate the egg yolk and vanilla extract, then gently knead until the dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough: After chilling, roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thickness on a floured surface.
- Cut and fit into tart pans: Cut circles to fit your tart molds and press into the pans.
- Blind bake: Prick the bottoms with a fork, cover with parchment paper, and fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 minutes, remove weights, then bake an additional 10 minutes until golden.
- Prepare the filling: Whisk the custard or vanilla pudding until smooth.
- Color the fillings: Divide the filling into bowls and add gel food coloring to create vibrant blue, pink, yellow, and purple hues.
- Decorate the tarts: Fill the baked tart shells with colorful pudding, then decorate with fresh fruit slices and edible anime motifs for an authentic Dragon Ball Z dessert experience.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring for more vibrant and precise colors.
