Ingredients

- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 whole cloves
- 1 star anise pod
- 1 teaspoon of dried ginger or fresh grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon of honey or to taste (optional)
- 1 black tea bag (preferably Assam or Darjeeling)
- Fresh lemon slices (for garnish, optional)
- Optional: a pinch of ground cardamom or turmeric for added depth
Instructions
- In a small pot, bring the water to a gentle boil.
- Add the cinnamon stick, cloves, star anise, and ginger. Reduce heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes to release flavors.
- Remove from heat and strain the infused water into a teapot or cup, discarding the whole spices.
- Place the black tea bag into the hot spiced water and steep for 3-5 minutes based on your preferred strength.
- Add honey or your favorite sweetener to balance the spice and enhance sweetness.
- Stir well and garnish with lemon slices for a refreshing touch.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
- Reheat gently on stovetop or microwave before serving.
