- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 3 ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ¼ cups milk
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp melted butter
- ¼ tsp golden food coloring (or turmeric paste)
- 2 tbsp chocolate chips, melted for dipping
- Edible gold dust or luster powder
- Optional: mini chocolate nifflers, gold foil squares, cinnamon “dragon scales”
Instructions
- Whisk dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and food coloring.
- Pour wet mix into dry and stir until just combined — do not overmix.
- Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Pour ¼ cup batter per pancake.
- Cook until bubbles form, flip and cook until golden (2–3 mins per side).
- Trim edges for round ‘coins’ and dip bottoms in melted chocolate for realism.
- Serve stack dusted with edible gold, topped with optional whimsical toppings.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, swap flour for certified GF blend.
- Edible gold dust is optional but adds authentic wizarding flair.
- Milk can be swapped for oat or almond milk for dairy-free.
