- 1 all-beef hot dog (preferably Vienna Beef)
- 1 poppy seed hot dog bun
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon chopped white onions
- 2 tomato wedges
- 1 dill pickle spear
- 2 sport peppers
- 1 teaspoon celery salt
- 1 tablespoon sweet green pickle relish
Instructions
- Steam the poppy seed bun until warm and slightly soft. Cook the all-beef hot dog by either steaming or grilling until heated through
- Squeeze a generous line of yellow mustard down the length of the hot dog
- Generously sprinkle freshly chopped white onions over the mustard
- Add sweet green pickle relish, tomato wedges, pickle spear, and sport peppers
- Finish with a light sprinkle of celery salt
Notes
- For authentic Chicago flavor, use Vienna Beef hot dogs if available
- Steam the buns rather than toasting them for traditional texture
- Chop onions fresh for maximum crispness and flavor
