Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 package active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- Powdered sugar and butter for glazing
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, and melted butter. Add the yeast mixture and egg, kneading until smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces.
- Shape each piece into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar with a little melted butter to make glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the milk is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
- For extra flavor, add vanilla extract or cinnamon to the dough.
- Serve rolls warm with butter or jam for a complete breakfast experience.
