Forrest Gump Shrimp Boil: A Flavorful Feast Inspired by the Iconic Movie. This hearty Southern-style shrimp boil features succulent shrimp, tender potatoes, sweet corn, and bold spices, perfect for gatherings and family meals.

  • Total Time: 35 mins

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs large shrimp (peeled and deveined, tails on)
  • 4 ears of corn (halved)
  • 1 lb baby potatoes (halved)
  • 1 lemon (quartered)
  • 1 onion (quartered)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 4 cups water or seafood stock
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring water or seafood stock to a boil. Add Old Bay seasoning, Cajun seasoning, red pepper flakes, garlic, and onion. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Add potatoes and corn. Cook for 10-12 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  3. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  4. Drain and transfer to a serving platter. Squeeze lemon juice and garnish with parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use fresh shrimp for best texture and flavor.
  • Adjust spice levels with more or less Cajun seasoning.
  • Don’t overcook shrimp—they become rubbery if boiled too long.
  • Serve with crusty bread to soak up the juices.
