Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the Cinnamon Streusel Topping
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch square cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Do not overmix.
- Prepare the streusel by combining brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading evenly. Sprinkle the cinnamon streusel over the top.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Ensure the butter is cold for the streusel to achieve a crumbly texture.
- Use full-fat sour cream for the best moistness and flavor.
- For extra flavor, add chopped nuts or chocolate chips to the streusel.
