- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 cup strawberry jam
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
- Sprinkles (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
- Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Add cubed butter and mix until resembling coarse crumbs. Gradually add cold water until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness and cut into 3×4 inch rectangles.
- Place a tablespoon of strawberry jam in the center of half the rectangles, top with another rectangle, seal edges, and crimp with a fork.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake pop tarts on parchment paper for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Cool completely before icing.
- Whisk powdered sugar and milk in a bowl for icing. Drizzle over cooled pop tarts and add sprinkles. Let it set before serving.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
- Freeze unbaked tarts wrapped in plastic for longer storage; bake directly from the freezer.
- Great served with coffee or milk.
