Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add butter, egg, and vanilla. Mix wet into dry ingredients to form a shaggy dough.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in oiled bowl and let rise for 1-1.5 hours, covered.
- Punch down dough, roll into a 1/4 inch thick circle, and cut into 12-16 triangles.
- Place a spoonful of jam at the base of each triangle, roll up, and shape into crescents. Let rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush croissants with egg wash and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
