- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Black food coloring (gel)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease cauldron-shaped molds.
- In a bowl, sift together cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk sugar, brown sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, adding black food coloring until deep black.
- Pour batter into molds and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool before decorating.
Notes
- Use a piping bag to add ‘cauldron’ details with icing.
- Glaze with edible glitter for a magical effect.
