Delight your Harry Potter fans with these enchanting Golden Snitch Cake Pops, perfect for magical parties, Harry Potter movie nights, or special celebrations. These shimmering treats combine a sweet vanilla flavor with a golden finish and whimsical wings, making them an unforgettable Quidditch-inspired dessert.

  • Total Time: 4 hours
  • Yield: 15-20 cake pops

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of vanilla cake mix (or your favorite homemade cake recipe)
  • Cream cheese frosting (homemade or store-bought)
  • Golden candy melts or metallic gold melts
  • White chocolate or almond bark (for the wings)
  • Food-safe cake pop sticks
  • Edible gold dust or shimmer spray (optional)
  • Decorative wings (made from white chocolate or purchased)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cake: Bake the vanilla cake according to the package instructions. Allow it to cool completely.
  2. Crumble the Cake: Break the cooled cake into fine crumbs using your hands or a food processor.
  3. Mash the Filling: Mix the cake crumbs with cream cheese frosting until well combined and holds together.
  4. Form the Cake Balls: Shape the mixture into small spheres (about the size of a golf ball). Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Chill the Cake Pops: Freeze the cake balls for at least 2 hours or until firm.
  6. Dip in Candy Melts: Melt the gold candy melts as per package instructions. Dip the tip of the cake pop sticks into melted candy, insert into the cake balls, then submerge each cake ball into the melted candy. Let excess drip off and set on a parchment-lined tray.
  7. Decorate the Wings: Melt white chocolate or almond bark. Pipe or cut out small wing shapes, attach to the cake pops with a dab of melted chocolate, and add edible gold dust for sparkle.

Notes

  • Ensure cake balls are thoroughly chilled before dipping for a smooth, even coating.
  • You can shape wings from chocolate or buy pre-made wing decorations for ease.
  • Use edible gold dust or shimmer spray for a magical, sparkling Snitch appearance.
