Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the molasses, egg, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 2 hours.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut out shapes.
  8. Place the cutouts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Let cool before transferring to a wire rack.
