Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 4 hot dogs, sliced lengthwise or into rounds
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños, diced tomatoes, black olives
- Olive oil for brushing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce generously.
- Arrange sliced hot dogs evenly on top of the cheese, creating a fun pattern.
- Add sliced red onion and green bell peppers for added flavor and crunch.
- Sprinkle dried oregano and garlic powder evenly over the toppings.
Brush the crust with olive oil for a golden finish. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is crispy and cheese is bubbly. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve hot.
Notes
- Pre-baking the crust for 5 minutes can prevent sogginess.
- Use vegetarian hot dog alternatives for a vegetarian version.
- Experiment with different cheese types like provolone or pepper jack.
- For extra crispiness, reheat leftovers in a skillet instead of the microwave.
