Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450 g) of lamb or chicken, sliced thin
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita bread pockets
- 1 cup chopped fresh tomatoes
- 1/2 cup sliced red onions
- 1/2 cup tzatziki sauce (for authentic flavor)
- Fresh lettuce or spinach leaves
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the sliced meat with minced garlic, dried oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to enhance the flavors.
- Grill or sauté the marinated meat over medium-high heat until fully cooked and slightly charred, approximately 8-10 minutes.
- Warm the pita bread in a dry skillet or oven. Meanwhile, chop the tomatoes, onions, and lettuce for assembly.
- Spread a generous layer of tzatziki sauce on each pita. Add the cooked meat, then top with fresh vegetables.
- Wrap the pita tightly and serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try using a mixture of lamb and beef.
- Marinate the meat longer (up to 2 hours) for more intense flavors.
- To keep leftovers, store cooked meat separately in an airtight container and reheat gently before serving.
