Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350u00b0F (175u00b0C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar and corn syrup; stir until dissolved. Remove from heat and whisk in eggs and vanilla.
- Sift together flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder. Fold into chocolate mixture until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 20–25 minutes, until a toothpick has moist crumbs but no wet batter.
- Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar using a stenciled spellbook shape (or freehand). Sprinkle glitter if desired.
- Cut into 12 rectangles to resemble open spellbooks—fold top corner slightly to mimic a page turn for authenticity.
Notes
- For deeper flavor, use dark cocoa powder or add a pinch of espresso powder to the dry ingredients.
- Use edible gold luster dust mixed with clear alcohol (like vodka) for a metallic rune topcoat.
- Let brownies rest 1 hour after cutting so the powdered sugar sets beautifully.
