Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and set aside.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat or microwave in short bursts. Allow to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Mix well until smooth.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into dessert bars.
