Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix the dry ingredients. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream the butter and sugar. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the egg and vanilla. Mix until well combined.
- Add the flour mixture. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide and color the dough. Split the dough into portions and add different food coloring gels to each to mimic cosmic hues. Knead until the colors are evenly distributed.
- Shape the cookies. Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thickness. Use cookie cutters or freehand shapes resembling stars, planets, or alien spacecraft.
- Bake the cookies. Place on prepared baking sheets and bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden.
- Decorate with Morse code. Once cooled, use royal icing or melted chocolate to pipe Morse code symbols for secret messages or star signals. For extra galactic effects, dust with edible glow powders.
Notes
- Ensure cookies are completely cooled before decorating to prevent smearing of the Morse code designs.
- For a more intense glow effect, apply the edible glow-in-the-dark powder generously and allow the cookies to sit under a blacklight if available.
- Mix different cosmic colors for a more vibrant galactic appearance.
