Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2/3 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon food-grade silicone mold (star or wormhole shaped)
- Food coloring in neon blue, cosmic purple, luminous green
- 1 teaspoon flavor extract (vanilla, berry, or citrus)
- Candy thermometer
- Lollipop sticks
Instructions
- Combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and water in a heavy saucepan. Stir constantly over medium heat until mixture reaches 300°F (149°C) on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat immediately once temperature is reached to prevent burning.
- Divide the hot syrup into separate bowls, adding different vibrant food colors to each for swirling effects.
- Pour a small amount of each colored syrup into the prepared silicone mold, swirling them with a toothpick or skewer to create a wormhole effect.
- Insert a lollipop stick into each mold cavity, ensuring it stands upright while the syrup cools and hardens.
- Allow the candies to cool at room temperature for about 30-45 minutes or refrigerate for faster setting.
- Carefully remove the lollipops from the molds, revealing their vibrant cosmic swirls.
Notes
- Work quickly when pouring colored syrup to maintain distinct swirl patterns.
- Use a toothpick or skewer to gently swirl the colors to mimic a wormhole effect.
- For a shinier finish, consider adding edible glitter before the syrup hardens.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature, wrapped in cellophane for freshness.
