Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring: green, brown, gray, and black
- Edible gel colors for detailing
- Royal icing or melted chocolate for decorating
- Dinosaur-shaped cookie cutters (or custom stencils)
- Edible markers for fine details
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter and sugar until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla, mixing well. Gradually incorporate the flour until a dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Cut out the shapes: Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness. Use dinosaur-shaped cookie cutters or stencil templates to cut out the cookies. Carefully transfer them to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake and cool: Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden. Allow cookies to cool completely before decorating.
- Decorate: Use food coloring and royal icing to add details mimicking the Jurassic Park gates — including gates’ green and brown hues, or dinosaur features like scales and claws. Use edible markers for fine lines and text for authenticity.
- Finishing touches: Add siren signs or park warnings with edible icing for an authentic park look.
Notes
- Ensure cookies are completely cooled before decorating to prevent smudging.
- Use high-quality edible gel colors for vibrant details.
- Decorate each cookie with fine edible markers for more detailed designs.
- Store decorated cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days.
