Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of French baguette or Italian bread
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
- Salt to taste
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional but recommended)
- Olive oil for brushing (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt. Mix thoroughly until well blended. For more flavor, add a splash of olive oil.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Slice the baguette or Italian bread in half lengthwise, ensuring even thickness for consistent baking.
- Spread the garlic butter generously over each half of the bread.
- Place the bread halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top if desired.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until edges are crispy and golden brown. Broil for an additional 1-2 minutes for extra crispiness, keeping a close eye to prevent burning.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a couple of minutes before slicing. Brush with olive oil or sprinkle parsley for garnish. Serve immediately for best results.
Notes
- For a vegan option, substitute butter with vegan margarine or olive oil, and skip Parmesan cheese or use a plant-based alternative.
- Use crusty bread like French baguette or Italian bread for optimal texture and flavor.
- Herbs like basil or oregano can be added for customized flavor.
