Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring in blue, yellow, and green (for cosmic effects)
- Edible glitter or cosmic sprinkles (for that space sparkle)
- Star-shaped cookie cutter
- Optional: nonstick spray for easy baking
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar until creamy and fluffy. Use a KitchenAid stand mixer for best results.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing on low speed until dough forms. Divide into sections and tint with food coloring for vibrant cosmic effects.
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
- Cut out star shapes using a star-shaped cookie cutter or other space-inspired shapes.
- Place cookies on prepared baking sheet and decorate with edible glitter or sprinkles to mimic stars and planets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Cool on wire racks before decorating further.
Notes
- Ensure cookies are completely cooled before applying edible glitter for best results.
- Use different food colorings to create a celestial rainbow effect.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
