- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
- 1 1/2 cups warm ale
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm ale with honey. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, herbs, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and shape into a round loaf.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
- You can add chopped herbs or garlic for extra flavor.
- Serve warm with butter or dips.
