Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups warm water (105-115Β°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon dried parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add olive oil, salt, minced garlic, rosemary, thyme, oregano, and parsley. Gradually add flour to form a shaggy dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours.
- Punch down the dough, shape into a loaf, place on parchment-lined baking sheet, and proof for 30-40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Brush the loaf with olive oil and sprinkle with herbs. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Ensure the water temperature is between 105-115Β°F for yeast activation.
- Avoid over-kneading; seek a smooth and elastic texture.
- Proof dough in a warm, draft-free area for optimal rise.
- For a crispy crust, place a pan of hot water in the oven during baking.
- Let bread cool completely before slicing to prevent gumminess.
