Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free blend)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh rosemary (optional, for flavor)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter and honey until smooth. Beat in the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms. If desired, knead in the chopped rosemary.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rest in a warm place for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Divide the dough into equal-sized portions and roll each portion thinly.
- Shape the dough into squares or rectangles, scoring a line across each piece if desired.
- Place the shaped pieces onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes

- Sweetness Level: Adjust honey to your taste; maple syrup is a good substitute.
