Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ¾ cups (345g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ½ cups (300g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring: red, green, gold, and black
- Royal icing or fondant for decoration
- Edible gold dust (optional for extra flair)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla, blending well.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into portions for different colors. Tint the portions with food coloring to match Eye of Agamotto’s vibrant colors. Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness. Use cookie cutters or freehand shape to form the eye symbol.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Allow cookies to cool completely.
- Decorate with royal icing or fondant. Use red, green, and gold to mimic the Eye of Agamotto, adding details with black icing. Highlight with edible gold dust for a mystical glow.
Notes
- Ensure cookies are completely cooled before decorating to prevent smudging.
- Use fine-tipped piping tips for precise design details.
- If using royal icing, let it dry fully before adding edible gold dust for best effect.
- You can prepare the dough in advance and refrigerate up to 24 hours.
