Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Food coloring gels in vibrant shades (red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange)
- Colored sprinkles, edible glitter, and fondant decorations for finishing
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a muffin tin with colorful cupcake liners.
- Cream together the softened butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in vanilla extract.
- In separate bowls, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add these dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, and mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly into six small bowls. Add a few drops of different food coloring gels into each bowl, stirring to achieve vibrant shades.
- Fill each cupcake liner with layers of differently colored batter to create a rainbow swirl. You can also spoon different colors into each liner for a mosaic effect.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cupcakes cool completely.
- Frost the cooled cupcakes with bright-colored frosting. Decorate with sprinkles, edible glitter, and fondant shapes to mimic Cameron’s playful style.
Notes
- Use high-quality food coloring gels for vivid, consistent colors.
- For beautifully piped frosting, opt for a piping bag with a star tip.
- Add edible glitter for extra sparkle and fun.
- Mix different complementary colors to create unique rainbow effects.
