Ingredients
Scale
- 2 slices of high-quality sourdough bread
- 1 cup of shredded aged cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup of Gruyère cheese, sliced
- 2 tbsp of butter, softened
- Optional: a handful of fresh basil leaves for added flavor
- Optional: a dash of Dijon mustard or honey for gourmet touch
Instructions
- Start by gathering all your ingredients. Ensure your cheeses are freshly shredded or sliced for easy melting.
- Lay one slice of sourdough bread on a clean surface. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each bread slice.
- On the unbuttered side of one slice, layer the shredded cheddar and sliced Gruyère cheeses, adding basil leaves or condiments if desired. Top with the second slice of bread, buttered side out.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat. Carefully place the assembled sandwich in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted thoroughly.
- Once grilled to perfection, remove the sandwich from the skillet. Let sit for a minute before slicing diagonally. Serve hot with side salad or soup for a gourmet lunch.
Notes
- Use high-quality bread and cheeses for the best flavor and texture.
- Adjust the heat to medium-low to prevent burning and ensure even melting.
- For an extra gourmet touch, add fresh basil or a drizzle of honey before grilling.
