Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe plantains
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Salt (to taste)
- Optional: Garlic powder, paprika, or your choice of spices
Instructions
- Select ripe plantains with a vibrant yellow color and a few dark spots for optimal sweetness.
- Slice the plantains by cutting off both ends, making a lengthwise incision in the skin to peel, then cut into 1-inch thick pieces.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat, and carefully add the sliced plantains, frying until golden brown on both sides (about 3-4 minutes per side).
- Remove the fried plantains from oil, draining excess oil on paper towels, and sprinkle with salt and spices before serving warm.
Notes
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat in a hot oven or air fryer to restore crispiness.
- These plantains can be served with guacamole, spicy salsa, or garlic mayo for added flavor.
