Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup of popcorn kernels
- 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Optional: a drizzle of hot sauce or sriracha for extra heat
Instructions
- Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the popcorn kernels. Cover and wait for kernels to pop, shaking the pot occasionally for even popping.
- While the popcorn pops, melt the butter in a small saucepan or in your KitchenAid Classic Iconic Stand Mixer if you prefer a hands-free approach.
- Mix the smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, and salt into the melted butter for a fiery seasoning blend.
- Once the popcorn is fully popped, pour the spicy butter mixture over the popcorn and toss gently to coat evenly.
- If you like extra heat, drizzle some hot sauce or sriracha and stir again.
- For an extra crispy texture, spread the coated popcorn on a baking sheet and roast it in your oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes. Alternatively, use an Ninja Mega Kitchen Power System to give it a quick crispy roast.
- Allow to cool slightly and enjoy your spicy popcorn snacking experience!
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container like the JoyJolt Airtight Glass Food Storage Set for up to 2 days.
- Reheat in a skillet or oven to regain crispiness.
- Adjust spice levels by increasing cayenne or hot sauce according to your heat preference.
