Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning
- 1 bag (12 oz) tortilla chips
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup guacamole
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the tortilla chips in a single layer on a large baking sheet or oven-safe platter.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat, then stir in the taco seasoning and 1/4 cup of water. Simmer for 5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheeses over the tortilla chips, then evenly distribute the seasoned beef. Add the remaining cheese, followed by diced tomatoes, jalapeños, and red onion.
- Place the nachos under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden. Remove from the oven and top with fresh cilantro, dollops of sour cream, guacamole, and lime wedges for a zesty finish.
Notes
- Vegetarian Option: Swap the beef for black beans or seasoned tofu crumbles.
- Spicy Kick: Add extra jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce.
- Protein Boost: Top with shredded chicken or pulled pork.
- While nachos are best enjoyed fresh, you can store leftover toppings separately in airtight containers for up to 2 days.
