  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and matcha powder.
  3. In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Sift additional matcha powder over the cooled cake before serving.
