Discover the delicious world of Pixar Brave with this Scottish Shortbread, a crispy, buttery treat inspired by Scottish traditions and the heroic spirit of Brave. Perfect for movie nights, this melt-in-the-mouth shortbread captures Scottish heritage with simple ingredients and delightful flavor.

  • Total Time: 25-30 minutes
  • Yield: 20 pieces

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla extract for added aroma
  • Decorative sugar or edible glitter for finishing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a Crock-Pot Family-Size Slow Cooker or your hands, rub the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. If desired, add a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla extract for flavor enhancement.
  5. Press the dough into a flat disc, then roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Cut into traditional rectangles or shapes inspired by Brave characters.

Bake the Shortbread

  1. Transfer the cut-out shapes to the prepared baking sheet.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden around the edges.
  3. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. Decorate with edible glitter or colored sugar for a magical touch.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for a crispier texture.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week for optimal freshness.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with coconut oil or dairy-free margarine.
  • Decorate with edible glitter or colored sugar to enhance the visual appeal.
