Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (226 g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla extract for added aroma
- Decorative sugar or edible glitter for finishing (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the cold cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Using a Crock-Pot Family-Size Slow Cooker or your hands, rub the butter into the dry mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
- If desired, add a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla extract for flavor enhancement.
- Press the dough into a flat disc, then roll it out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut into traditional rectangles or shapes inspired by Brave characters.
Bake the Shortbread
- Transfer the cut-out shapes to the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden around the edges.
- Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. Decorate with edible glitter or colored sugar for a magical touch.
Notes
- Use cold butter for a crispier texture.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week for optimal freshness.
- For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with coconut oil or dairy-free margarine.
- Decorate with edible glitter or colored sugar to enhance the visual appeal.
