Easy to make and visually captivating, it’s ideal for kids’ birthdays, movie nights, or themed gatherings aiming to bring whimsical fun to your table.

  • Total Time: 4 hours 25 minutes
  • Yield: 8-10 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packages (3 oz each) of lime-flavored gelatine (or any green-flavored gelatine for vibrant color)
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Plastic army men figures (non-edible, food-safe or toy-safe, preferably washable)
  • Optional: edible glitter or sprinkles for extra fun

Instructions

  1. Ensure your plastic army men are clean and dry. Handle with care to avoid damage.
  2. Lightly spray the figures with cooking spray or a silicone lubricant to prevent sticking.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve the lime-flavored gelatine in 2 cups of boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved.
  4. Add 1 cup of cold water and mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into silicone molds or a rectangular dish lined with plastic wrap for easy removal.
  6. Allow the gelatin to cool slightly but not set, around 20-30 minutes.
  7. Arrange the army men figures carefully on the surface of the semi-liquid gelatin, pressing them gently to ensure they are partially submerged.
  8. Place the mold in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until completely set.
  9. Once set, carefully remove the silicone mold or gently lift the gelatin from the dish.
  10. Cut into portions if using a dish, or serve the whole mold. Add edible glitter or sprinkles for extra visual appeal.

Notes

  • Handle the plastic army figures gently to prevent damage.
  • Do not freeze as it may damage the figures or alter the texture.
  • Prepare the gelatin slightly ahead and embed the figures just before serving for best visual effects.
