Scooby Doo Jelly Donuts are a fun and delicious treat perfect for parties, breakfasts, or whimsical desserts. Filled with your favorite jelly and dusted with powdered sugar, they provide a delightful taste that appeals to both kids and adults.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes
  • Yield: 12 donuts 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup jelly (your favorite flavor)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. In another bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and egg, then add it to the dry mixture and knead into a smooth dough.
  2. Let the dough rise in a warm place for about an hour, until doubled in size. Roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick and cut out donut shapes using cookie cutters.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium heat. Fry the donut shapes until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  4. Cool the donuts slightly, use a piping bag to fill each with jelly, then dust generously with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

  • Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or freeze unfilled donuts for longer storage.
  • Any jelly or jam can be used for filling, such as grape, strawberry, or raspberry.
  • For gluten-free donuts, substitute all-purpose flour with a suitable gluten-free flour blend.
  • Add food coloring to jelly for a vibrant, colorful filling that kids will love.
