- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- For the frosting:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Mix flour, baking powder, and set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla, then alternate adding flour mixture and milk until smooth.
- Pour batter into muffin tins or cake molds. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely before frosting.
- Prepare frosting by creaming butter, then gradually beating in powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Frost cooled cakes and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- You can add a teaspoon of lemon zest to the frosting for a citrus twist.
- These cakes are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in airtight containers for 2 days.
