Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups crushed graham crackers or digestive biscuits
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Pink and green food coloring (gel preferred)
- Mini pretzel sticks (for ‘bombs’ and ‘webs’)
- Black sesame seeds or poppy seeds (for accents)
- Optional: Edible eyeballs or candy eyes for spooky effects
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth. Use a hand mixer for best results.
- Add the shredded cheddar cheese, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is well combined and cohesive.
- Divide the mixture into two equal parts. Keep one plain and tint the other with green food coloring, kneading until the color is evenly distributed.
- Using your hands, shape the plain cheddar mixture into small round balls, about the size of a golf ball. These will be your core ‘bombs’.
- For the green cheese balls, shape the tinted mixture similarly, creating a variety of fun, superhero-inspired shapes.
- Roll each cheese ball in crushed graham crackers or digestive biscuits to give it a ‘armor’ texture.
- Insert mini pretzel sticks into the top of each cheese ball to resemble fuse ‘bombs’.
- Use black sesame seeds or poppy seeds to add details, such as web patterns or eyes.
- For added spookiness, place edible eyeballs or candy eyes on some cheese balls.
- Optional: Use a piping bag or toothpick dipped in food coloring to draw web patterns or facial features for a more detailed look.
Notes
- Store leftover Cheese Balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Wrap individual cheese balls with plastic wrap to prevent drying out.
- For longer storage, freeze the cheese balls and thaw in the fridge before serving.
