Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup water
- Cookies of your choice (vanilla or chocolate work well)
- Optional: food coloring (if you want a colorful twist)
Instructions
- In a medium-sized pot over medium heat, add 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1/4 cup of water. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and begins to bubble.
- Once the sugar has caramelized to a beautiful amber color, quickly remove it from the heat and add 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. Stir vigorously.
- Pour the whipped caramel mixture onto a lined baking sheet and use cookie cutters to shape them as desired.
- Allow the cookies to cool and harden before serving.
Notes
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
- Avoid refrigeration as moisture can ruin the texture.
- Consider adding vanilla extract for an extra flavor twist.
