Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional, for decorative folding)
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and powdered sugar.
- Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Form the dough: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until well combined.
- Divide and color: Split the dough into portions. Add food coloring to each portion if desired for a more colorful folded cookie effect.
- Shape and fold: Roll each portion into thin circles, then fold and pinch the edges to form a folded triangle or square, mimicking the ddakji design.
- Bake: Place the folded cookies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
- Cool and decorate: Allow cookies to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
